A website for a sixties pop singer's music, photos and story, designed as a special issue of the magazines he was in.
Visit louchristie.com ↗Lou Christie had his first hit in 1963 and a US number one in 1966 with "Lightnin' Strikes". After he passed in 2025, his daughter wanted one home for his songs, his photos and his TV appearances: a site that felt like him, that she could share with his fans.
In 1966 he was in Fab 208, Rave and 16. The site is laid out like a special issue of those magazines: a cover, an editor's letter, a feature story, the singles chart and a TV page.
It stays sober, as a memorial should: cream paper, black ink, and one faded red for the lightning bolts.
A tall condensed LOU, Christie in record-sleeve script, and one red bolt for "Lightnin' Strikes". The letters rise one by one while his portrait settles into place.
Her letter is kept exactly as she wrote it. It ends with her own handwriting, which draws itself in as you read.
Twenty-four photos from 1962 to 2012, each set as a magazine page with a date and a single line. Scroll down and the issue turns sideways.
Each song sits on a jukebox strip with its code, its year and where it charted. One click and the record slides out of its sleeve and starts to play. The six hits come first, then ten tracks from his original albums.
Nine TV appearances in a carousel, each labelled with the show and the date.
